My Top Kodi Add-ons and why

The following is a list of add-ons that in my opinion every Kodi user should have.

Add-on Installer

Screenshot (198)

In my opinion without a doubt the Add-on Installer is a must have for all Kodi users. Nowadays the majority of builds available will have this essential add-on already installed if not they should have. It’s simplicity to use is what makes it as good as it is, as is the amount of content so easily accessible.

In order to get the Add-on installer you must first add the Fusion repository. For instructions how to -CLICK HERE- then once you have installed the Fusion Repository follow these instructions.

 1. Click on system.
 2. Add-ons.
 3. Install from zip.
 4. FUSION.
 5. Start here.
 6. Plugin.program.addoninstaller-1.0.5.zip
 7. Wait to see Add-on enabled and your ready to go.

I have decided not to place the following in any particular order, because to be honest I couldn’t really recommend certain ones over others.

Phoenix

Screenshot (234)

I do however have to start with the Phoenix add-on simply because it’s more than one add-on, it’s a collection of real quality add-ons which include Rockcrusher with it’s amazing content of only top quality movie and tv show links, if your after quality streams and don’t mind waiting a little longer to see a movie well this is the place to watch. And theres Staael2014 which is similar with it’s quality movie and tv show links to only the best of streams and which now has included a live sports section. And not forgetting Woody. It’s great to see woody is back and it looks as though he has merged with or taken over PhoenixTv and now there is Finetv with a huge selection of channels.

Also included in the Phoenix add-on are Her Place, Crusader88, One242415 and TNPB(Pirate bay), all of which have various types of content from music concerts, how to videos for Kodi and of course movie and tv show links.

The Phoenix add-on is available in the add-on installer.

@Rockcrusher – @Staael2014 – @Woody_is_back

Genesis

Screenshot (242)

Some people may be surprised to see Genesis on this list with all the chatter lately about it’s possible demise. The add-on still has plenty of excellent content. Genesis is the first go to add-on for a lot of people looking for the latest movie releases, and also the latest tv show series. The amount of content is amazing and I sure hope it continues for a long time. To get the best from Genesis you will need to have Real-Debris. There is a huge amount of information on-line regarding real-debris and similar services to run with your Kodi to improve the service for all. As I understand it, users of the service will get access to better quality and faster streams, this will hopefully reduce buffering for all because not eveyone will be trying to access the same streams at the same time.

The Genesis add-on is available in the add-on installer.

UK Turks Playlists

Screenshot (240)

Without a doubt a massive favorite across the board in the kodi team. I’m sure if you asked any regular Kodi user for their top 5 add-ons this would be in almost everybody’s. The amount of content is unbelievable, I honestly find it hard to believe just one guy runs this add-on! There are just too many sections to name them all so I will show you a screenshot to give you an idea of just how much content there actually is.

Screenshot (251)

All the sections are updated very frequently, there is a great section for documentaries and the stand up comedy section is a fantastic new addition. And there are the classic sections for movies, tv shows and cartoons for the kids. I could go on as you can see from the list above. If you don’t have this add-on I highly recommend you get it and get it now.

The UK Turks Playlist is available in the add-on installer.

@uk_turk

Operation Robocop Ultimate

Screenshot (235)

This one is definitely for the football fans! Run by a massive football supporter to provide fellow supporters with top quality links for every premier league match and also the Scottish premier league (SPL). As well as football Operation Robocop covers all the PPV, including the boxing and of course lately the UFC!

To install Operation Robocop Ultimate on your device you will need to add his repository. The Url for this is http://repo.shit.football

1Channel(Prime Wire)

Screenshot (237)

Around a long time Prime Wire has been providing massive amounts of quality content with top quality streams. This would really be my go to for tv shows as there are always links to quality streams available and I hardly ever experience issues with buffering. A little tip about buffering while I mention it is if a stream does start to buffer on you at the beginning leave it and search a different link, I find if the stream buffers at the start it will buffer throughout. 1 Channel pulls its links from a huge amount of sources so you will always find a link to a quality stream. I also found that if you don’t find a sufficient stream when you click on the tv show or movie you want to watch, click on it again and you will find it will find more links to streams from different sources.

1 Channel is available in the add-on installer

Entertainment Hub

Screenshot (244)

As it states itself, this is a super all in one add-on. It’s movie section has links to some of the best streaming sites available on the internet. With it’s box office and featured section you can keep a watchful eye out for some of the latest movies. The tv show section is similar in that it has a huge amount of links for you to search for streams of your favorite shows in. The calendar search is a great idea if your up to date with the latest shows and want to know whats on when. Also included are a section for sports, kiddies, and documentaries.

With Entertainment Hub it’s not just the add-on, it’s their repository which has recently been updated and added to. There are so so many top add-ons in here I would advice everyone to ensure they add this repository to their Kodi. Some of the other add-ons included in their repository are the well known Prime Links, Release Hub and Movies XL. There are also some relatively new add-ons they include RLseries and Streamthis.tv that have been getting top reviews all around. A lot of the add-ons in the entertainment repository make use of real-debris in order to provide a better service for all Kodi users. There are too many add-ons in the repository to name them all so here is a screenshot:

Screenshot (259)

Screenshot (260)

To install the entertainment repository you can use the Fusion file, just follow these steps:

 1. Click system.
 2. Add-ons.
 3. Install from zip.
 4. FUSION
 5. XBMC-Repo.
 6. English
 7. Repository.entertainmentrepobackup-1.1.2.zip
 8. Wait for Add-on enabled icon and go to install from repository to install the add-ons you want.

@MrEntertainRepo

SALTS-Stream all the sources

Screenshot (239)

I really can’t imagine there are any Kodi users out there that don’t have this add-on on their system. As the name suggests it literally streams from all the sources, scraping links to streams from almost every streaming site there is. I personally use this and 1 channel for watching my tv shows. The search option in both the movie and tv show sections are very good and I like the way it saves your recent searches. Also because this site scrapes from so many sources it can take a while. When your looking for a certain show or movie you will get a different list of links almost every time. What you can do however is go into the settings and guide the add-on to which sites you want to scrape the links for your stream from. You do this by pressing the menu button/right click on the add-on before you open it and go onto add-on settings and follow the instrucions. After using the add-on for some time you get to know what streaming sites your getting the best links from so you can build up a list and set the add-on to only scrape from those.

SALTS is available in the add-on installer

Movie Hut

Screenshot (241)

The reason I have included Movie Hut is because I find it very neat and easy to use as well as easy to navigate because there are only a few sections on it’s home screen, but all these sections are all your going to need! From it’s featured section to recently added and recently updated to it’s search option. Unlike some of the other add-ons that scrape links from steaming sites this add-on gives you a list of of the actual streaming sites to choose from. I found that after some time using this add-on you build up a list of what sites give you the better quality streams and you tend to look for them first.

Movie Hut is available in the add-on installer

@metal_kettle

cCloud

Screenshot (262)

Last and by no means least I have to include the newly improved Ccloud. With it’s huge number of available channels, over 1500 actually, there’s a chance you might find something to watch! With the latest improvements to this add-on they have split channels into their respective categories including all the usual including sports, documentaries, entertainment and so on. This of course makes it a lot easier to find the channel your looking for, the quality isn’t always 100% but you will almost always find the channel your looking for, and that’s why I had to include this add-on to the list.

cCloud is available in the add-on installer

@podgodrepo

In my opinion you can get everything your going to need on Kodi with just the above add-ons but of course like most people I have well over 30 add-ons in my own build, as they say variety is the whatever? But in all seriousness you won’t miss out on anything if you only had these add-ons I have recomended.

And always remember the amazing work the developers of these add-ons and others do for our enjoyment. And please don’t whine and moan on social media because your movie buffered or your link to the football went down. Remember just how much your paying for the amazing service your getting! Rather than moan about the few hiccups, thank the developers for their amazing work and hope that they continue to add content to their add-ons for us to keep on enjoying Kodi for a long time into the future.

Thanks for reading and have a happy Christmas.

Create your own build on Kodi part-5

And finally we can now look at setting up the sub-menus, and adding more colour to improve the look of your build.

Link to part – 2 -CLICK HERE-

Link to part – 3 -CLICK HERE-

Link to part – 4 -CLICK HERE-

(EDIT) Here are some more images i’ve been sent of peoples own builds, please send images of your completed build to my twitter handle and I will share them on the kodi team twitter page and I may also put some on here to give others ideas.IMG_20160114_194424 [9808]IMG_20160108_175529 [9590]Again thanks guys.

Some screenshots of the in-complete build so far:

Screenshot (123)

Screenshot (122)

Now the final part of our build, the sub-menu, a very important part because the more detailed you make your sub-menu the easier it will be to navigate.

As an example we will build a sub-menu for the movie section of your main menu. For other ideas what to put in various sub-menus I will make a list at the end of this blog to give you some ideas, but it is your build so it really should include whatever you want.

 • As before from the main menu we click on ‘skin settings’ on the ‘system’ sub-menu, then click ‘Set up the Aeon Nox menu’ then we arrive here as below.
 • We are working on the movie sub menu so highlight this first then scroll down to ‘Manage submenu’ and click on it:

Screenshot (126)

 • Delete any unwanted existing sub-menus:

Screenshot (127)

 • Now you want to click on ‘Type’ until you see the menu that has ‘video add-ons’ at the top:

Screenshot (128)

 • Here we will begin with the 1Channel Video add-on, scroll down find and click on ‘1Channel >’ as below:

Screenshot (165)

 • Then the menu below will appear, because we are building the movie menu click on ‘movies >’ as below

Screenshot (129)

 • You can now choose what part of the 1Channel movie menu you wish to create a sub-menu for. Here we will pick ‘most popular’ so now click on it:

Screenshot (131)

 • After clicking ‘most popular above you will see the following menu. You now need to click ‘Create shortcut to here’ and now you have your first sub-menu chosen.

Screenshot (132)

 • You will now see on the left the shortcut you have chosen. We now need to change the text or we will have no way of knowing which add-on we have a shortcut to most popular for. Ensure it is highlighted and select ‘set label’ as below:

Screenshot (134)

 • As before in the main menu we can add as much and any colour as we want. Use the same basic coding as before, this time however we will include making the text bold so the sub-menu stands out better. To make the text bold we need to have before the text and after. Don’t forget the forward slash.
 • Here is an example

[COLORorange]1Channel Popular

 • You can type the text lower case but it will appear on the menu in higher case, same as in the menu bar.
 • As you can see I have chosen to use orange as an example but you may use whatever colour you want:

Screenshot (135)

 • Your first sub-menu will start to look like this, now click ‘Add’ to create your next menu shortcut:

Screenshot (136)

 • As an example I will choose Genesis next, ensure that ‘<None>’ is highlighted on the left.
 • Now click on ‘Genesis >’

Screenshot (137)

 • And again as before choose ‘Movies >’

Screenshot (138)

 • This time for Genesis we will choose Box office so click on this, always remember the symbol ‘>’ indicates there is further menus.

Screenshot (139)

 • And again click on ‘Create shortcut to here’, this creates the shortcut to the box office.

Screenshot (140)

 • This time I will make the text red in order to stagger it which I find makes it stand out better on the menu.
 • Again here is another example:

[COLORred]Genesis Box office

 • Click done:

Screenshot (141)

 • When you are finished your movie sub-menu it will look similar to this with your own colours and your own personal sub-menu shortcuts.

Screenshot (145)

 • Now go back out and check your movie menu is as you want it, if it needs any tweaking you can go back in as above and make your changes.

Screenshot (146)

Now you can go through each of your menu items and create your own personal sub-menu to suit your own needs. You can have more than 5 sub-menus under each menu, they will scroll along underneath. I found 5 was enough and I also thought it looked neater.

To give you an idea of what sort of sub-menus you can have for each menu item here are a list of some of the ones from my own build:

Sports: Phoenix sports, Woody sports, Sportsdevil, UkTurks sports and Ccloud sports.

Genesis: Movies, TvShows, Search, Favorite Movies, Favorite TvShows

Live Tv: Ccloud, Channel Pear, UkTurks and Filmon.tv

Phoenix: Live Football, Live PPV, Woody, Rockcrusher and Staael2014.

Add-ons: Add-on installer, Categories, Programs.

Power: Quit (It’s all you need)

I really hope you enjoy creating your own build and enjoy using it as much as I have enjoyed using mine. I find if you keep the amount of add-ons to a minimum by just keeping the ones you use your Kodi runs smoother and faster. And with the ‘add-on installer’ its simple to search for and install new add-ons.

When you have completed your very own build i’m sure your are going to want to back up all that hard work you have done. There are numerous ways of doing this, there is a backup program in the Kodi repo but I didn’t find this great. There is also a back up tool in the Community Wizard and finally there is a back up tool i’ve used myself with success called the Community Portal program add-on. There is plenty of info on all these on the kodi team site. And there is info on how to publish your build if you wanted to.

(EDIT) After some time working on various builds for friends and family I have learned a few more ways to improve the look of your build, including adding multiple backgrounds and also changing fonts on the main menu bar. To see what i’ve learned go too ‘Create your own build extra’ just  -CLICK HERE-

If you have any questions feel free to contact me on twitter and I will do my best to help. And if you have any comments about this blog or any suggestions as to how I could improve it please leave a comment below.

THE WETEK PLAY REVIEW, THE DEVICE THAT HAS MANY FACES

So I’ve been checking out and using on a regular bases the Wetek Play device, this device caught my attention earlier in the year and I was waiting for some of the big hitters in the UK to grab and promote this device as I thought this has seriously potential, but no….I hadn’t seen any top media box sellers push this device and I thought it was down to spec factors, but then I checked it out and that could’t be the case as it’s ranked very high……so it was time for me to get chatting with the Appnettv team and get them to check it out themselves as I thought it was a device that could change the way we stream in many ways.

The Wetek Play is a dual booting device that can run on various operating systems and boy do they run smooth!

weetek

Below is my video on what I’m currently using it for….even though I’ve had this for a couple of months I’m still learning new things and creating new things with this device and that what makes me realise that this just isn’t any old media box, it has serious potential and I’ve only probably scratched the surface. I’ve even got some ideas that could potentially make the experience even better…if that’s possible.

This is the first device I’ve come across that you can use it for multiple operating systems (dual booting) with complete ease and works like a charm, the added bonuses of dual tuners make it even more awesome, I guess we all dreamed of a device like this years ago…..and it seems that it’s here.

Thank you for taking your time in watching my full review on the Wetek Play, I know it was long but i hope I touched on some cool things that is possible with this device. I think there is so much more it can do and with Appnettv behind them, the Wetek Play will be a household name in no time.

Visit www.Appnettv.co.uk to view all different Wetek Play device bundles you can buy along with the full range of accessories for the device along with any questions you may have regarding this device or if your in two minds on what one suits your needs.

You can also follow Appnettv on twitter HERE.

Is Kodi illegal? Can I get in trouble?

A lot of Kodi users have questions concerning the legality of Kodi and it’s add ons. In this video, I’m going to address it as best as I can with articles to support my claim.

Create your own build on Kodi Part-4

Here we will first improve the look of your menu bar, including tidying the text and adding some colour.

Link to part – 3 -CLICK HERE-

(EDIT) Here are some more images of other peoples builds created using this guide to give you some ideas. Don’t forget to send me images of your build to my twitter handle IMG_20160108_175543 [13867]IMG_20160108_175529 [9590]Thanks guys keep them coming to me at twitter.

Here are more photos of screenshots of my own build:DSC_0303 [175911]DSC_0298 [179166]

To start we will improve the look of your menu bar and add a little colour to the text:

 • First click on skin settings below system:

Screenshot (99)

 • Set up the Aeon Nox menu:

Screenshot (113)

 • Click on Edit Label:

Screenshot (119)

 • This is where you improve the look of your menu bar. In order to add colour to your text on your menu bar you need to type the following exactly as shown.
 • Example for sky blue: [COLORskyblue]Movie
 • Main things to remember are colour is spelt the American way, without a ‘u’. Text at either end is to be enclosed with square brackets [ ]. The back brackets include a forward slash / before the word COLOR.
 • And also the colour you wish to use is typed in lower case text. You can google ‘basic colour code’ to find some different colours you can use.

Screenshot (120)

 • You can add as many colours as you want, I prefer to stagger them only using two colours except of course for the [COLORred]power menu I like to change that to red. Continue step by through your menu until you have it completed to your liking.
 • As you can see in the following screenshot I used white for my Tv Shows menu, this does take a bit of time to do but the more work you put into it the more you will appreciate it when it’s completed.

Screenshot (121)

 • Now your menu should begin to take shape

and as you can see I kept both the system and power menu and coloured my ‘POWER’ menu red:

Screenshot (125)

Another little trick to improve the look of your menu

 • Return to the set up Aeon Nox menu and ensure Add-ons is highlighted on the left. Now scroll down and click on select widget.

Screenshot (256)

 • In the widget menu scroll down and find Video Add-ons, this will create a widget for your Add-on menu

Screenshot (257)

 • As you can see you have a small widget on the right of your Add-on screen that will continually scroll through your own add-ons.

(Apologies for the quality of the screenshots)

DSC_0031 [66610]

 • You can also scroll through the widget menu yourself, giving you details of each add-on.

DSC_0020 [66790]

Next in part – 5 we will work on the sub-menu, the final part of your own personal build.
